Mexico City, with its bustling streets, rich history, and vibrant culture, never disappoints. For my bachelorette, we decided to immerse ourselves in the lively neighborhoods of Roma Norte and Condesa, known for their trendy restaurants, chic bars, and beautiful parks. Here’s a glimpse into our adventures and some recommendations for your next visit.
Stay in the Heart of the Action: Roma Norte & Condesa
We based ourselves in Roma Norte and Condesa—two adjacent neighborhoods that are perfect for soaking up the city's dynamic energy. You’re never far from fantastic eateries, unique bars, and tree-lined streets that make exploring on foot a delight. Plus, a major park connects both areas, offering a green escape in the middle of the city.
Experiencing Mexico City’s Unique Flavors and Spirits
Mexico City Tour: Many bike tours are offered through the city. The bike tour through Mexico City allowed us to explore vibrant neighborhoods, lush parks, and colorful street art, offering an exciting and immersive way to experience the city's dynamic culture.
Mezcal Tour: Mexico City is the perfect place to dive into the world of mezcal. We joined a mezcal tour that took us through some of the best spots in the city, where we learned about the artisanal process behind this smoky spirit and tasted various mezcal styles. It’s a must-do for those wanting to experience the depth of Mexican spirits.
Taco Tour: You can't visit Mexico City without indulging in its world-renowned street food, and our taco tour did not disappoint. We tried everything from al pastor to barbacoa, each bite showcasing the diverse flavors of Mexico. Walking through different neighborhoods while enjoying tacos was an unforgettable experience.
Xochimilco: A Fiesta on the Water
One of the highlights was our day trip to Xochimilco, about a 40-minute Uber ride from Roma Norte. Known for its colorful trajineras (boats), Xochimilco is a lively scene where locals and tourists alike gather to float, drink, and dance on the water. We spent the day cruising through the canals, listening to mariachi bands, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. There’s also an eco preserve nearby, perfect for a more tranquil side of this unique destination.
Day Trips to Nature: Las Estacas and More
If you're looking for a break from the city’s buzz, consider a day trip to Las Estacas. Known for its stunning natural springs and crystal-clear river, this spot is a popular escape for locals, who often rent Airbnbs to enjoy a relaxing weekend. The serene environment, surrounded by lush greenery, makes it an ideal spot to unwind.
